Merino wool comes from the sheep of the same name, a breed raised mainly in Australia, which today accounts for nearly 80% of global production. Once harvested, the raw wool is sent for processing. Most batches go through China, but the finest fibres take a different route, straight to Italy.
At Maison Bonnefoy, we’ve chosen to work with an Italian spinning mill that stands out: the only one to offer a 100% extrafine Merino wool yarn fully made in Italy. The fleece, sourced in Australia, is both spun and dyed in a single Italian workshop, ensuring quality, traceability, and care at every step.
